FAQs

Allan and I thought it would be helpful to post some the most frequently asked questions from our Guests. So here it goes...

Q: I have lost or haven't sent in my RSVP yet, what should I do?
A: Give us a call and mail it! We really do enjoy opening up the mailbox and seeing what RSVP's came in the mail that day, but what matters most is that we know who'll be joining us. Our caterer needs an exact head count 2-3 weeks prior to the wedding, so it is very important that we know.

Q: How do you get to the ceremony and receptions sites?
A: Easy! Go to our website and click on the "Our Wedding" page. There were also directions in the pocket of the invitation. We will also be passing out directions at the ceremony just in case!

Q: Where in Leu Gardens is the ceremony? Is it a long walk?
A: The ceremony will take place on the Museum Lawn. It is about a 10 - 15 minute walk from the entrance of the park. So my advice is arrive early and take a stroll through the gardens. All walkways are paved but the actual ceremony site is in the grass. Please plan accordingly. Also, for the few of you who will need assistance, the staff does have a golf cart that can bring you there. :)

Q: What should I wear?
A: The attire is semi-formal. For guys, this means suit and tie or even dress pants with a nice button-up shirt and tie. For the ladies, a dress, dress suit or pant suit would be appropriate. And for the younger ones, we'll leave it up to the parents to decide

Q: I'm coming from out-of-town, what hotel should I stay at?
A: We have made arrangements at a few hotels close to the reception site, which you'll find information for on the "Our Wedding" page, but don't feel like these are your only options! There are several other hotels around the I-4/SR 436 interchange or even if you would like to stay down near the Attractions you should have no problem finding a hotel around there.

Q: Where are you registered?
A: We have registered at Crate & Barrel, Bed Bath & Beyond and Target. You can find direct links to our directory on the "Our Wedding" page of wendyandallan.com or you can head to the store itself and ask the customer service department for a copy of our registry.

If any of you have any other questions, please feel free to email us or give us a call!

The One Month Mark

When Allan and I first got engaged a year and a half ago, March 7, 2009 seemed like forever away. Well, those 18 months flew by. Now, we are exactly 4 weeks away from the BIG day and I couldn't be more happy, nervous, excited, stressed, scared, emotional... the list goes on and on.

I cannot wait to celebrate with all of you! SEE YOU IN A MONTH!!!! :) :) :)

P.S. The most exciting part of my day is checking the mailbox for RSVPs. This is no lie. I know exactly what time our mailwoman comes (and I get very annoyed when she is running late). I listen for the sound of the mailbox shutting then run out the front door to check for RSVPs. But at least I don't bark at her like Riley does :). So... if you haven't mailed your RSVP in please do so right now. You wouldn't want to deny me that excitement, would you??

An Entire Year...

It's hard to believe actually. Wendy and I have been engaged for a year as of yesterday, September 7th. It's kind of crazy how fast time flies by. Anyways I thought it'd be fun to make a list of the top 3 best and worst things about being engaged (based on my first hand experience). So with that said here we go...

Top 3 best things about being engaged
3) Totally rubbing it in Wendy's face that she will be taking my last name... Gotta admit that this took a little convincing. Though I think it may have been a little easier if I had a really awesome/unique last name like "OCEANAIRE" or "BEASTMASTER"
2) Tastings! I went with Wendy to meet the first caterer that we would interview and after that I was hooked. We showed up and the lady sat us down at a table in her restaurant, asked us if we'd like anything to drink and said she'd be right out with "a few things". Well, a few things turned out to be 4 different appetizers. Then came 3 entrees and 3 side dishes, followed by a full-on cake tasting with 2 different types of cake and 6 different frostings! It had been the best meal I had eaten in well over a year, and it was 100% free. 10 or so tastings later I was satisfied and decided to choose a vendor... Good times, Good times...
1) As cheesy as it sounds, the absolute best thing about being engaged is knowing that the person who said "Yes" is fully committed to spending the rest of their lives with you, to be there to share in the happiest moments of your life.

Top 3 Worst Things about Being Engaged
3) Fielding phone calls from people who think it's absolutely hilarious to call you by your fiance's last name... "Hello, I'm calling for Mr. Fekany, Mr. Allan Fekany" Good one.
2) Where'd the time go? At one point I remember having tons of free time to do whatever I wanted. It is amazing how much goes into planning a wedding. I can't even imagine what it's like for Wendy. I've gone with Wendy to countless meetings with vendors, cheesy DJ after cheesy DJ trying to find someone who'd fit the bill. We even started planning over a year in advance and still we find ourselves wondering if we'll have enough time to get everything ready.
1) Having to remember to call the other person your "Fiance"! Who came up with this? I really want to know what in the heck they were thinking... I mean, there had to have been a better option. I just feel so awkward every time that I say it. Even now, after a year of having to call her that, I still don't feel completely comfortable saying it. I totally feel like I'm bragging when I say it. It's the worst when you are talking with someone who doesn't know that you're engaged. Sometimes you can get around it by saying their name, but there will be times when you have to use it. "So last weekend I went with Wendy to the UF-Hawaii game, it was cool but I wish I would have seen them do that Hawaiian dance before the game." "Yeah, that dance is awesome. Who's Wendy, she your girlfriend?" "Actually she's my FIAAAANCEEE" Try all you want, thats what it's going to sound like. I'm not good at writing things out phoneticaly but it's something like FEE-YAAWN-SAY. The YAAAWN-SAY gets drug out and it totally gives off that whole I'm bragging, I'm engaged vibe. And another thing. When you're typing it you dont always have to, but you feel bad because you have absolutely no clue how to put that little thing above the E. You know it should be there, but you just don't know how to do it. Does anyone? Can anyone tell me how to do it? Fiance'. That's good enough for me.

There you have it. They may not be my all time top 3 but thats all I could come up with for tonight.

New Wedding Planning Blog!

Woohoo! We finally updated the website! I know, I know, it's been a little while... OK months since we have made any changes and I am sure all of you are just jonesin' for some wedding updates... Well, to be all that honest there hasn't been a whole lot of new, exciting wedding news and I guess that's why we got so behind with our updates. BUT, there are a few things that we can tell you about!

In late July, Wendy and I got our Engagement Pictures taken. We were bound and determined to take them before we had reached the 1 year mark in our engagement. Mission accomplished! Taking the pictures was somewhat of an experience for us as it took both of us a little out of our comfort zone. We were a little nervous about being "models" but our photographer is awesome and did a wonderful job at telling us exactly what to do, how to stand, where to look and the pictures turned out great! We took them in Winter Park along Park Avenue and were very pleased with the variety in shots that we were able to get. Head on over to our Photos page and check out the pics! Double-click on the Slideshow to open up the Photo Album and see the full size photos!

The next update is that both Wendy's family and my family were able to vacation together down in the Keys! Everyone had a total blast! We spent everyday out on the water, fishing, lobstering, snorkeling and just really enjoying ourselves. We ate lots of great food (including the freshest Dolphin and Lobster I've ever had!) and enjoyed many an afternoon at the pool, sipping on Rumrunners, relaxing as the winded down. All in all everyone had a great week!

Aside from that, we pretty much have all of our wedding vendors booked and we are beginning to focus on the smaller details (who knew there were so many??). I promise that we'll keep the website and this blog more up to date from now on. Hope everyone is doing well!

OK, I know, we’ve been slacking a little on the website. Here is the low-down on what has been going on with the wedding planning recently: CAKE TASTING! We have now been to 4 different cake tastings and have tried some awesome cake! We booked our cake maker/decorator this past week after meeting her at a local Panera. We thought it was kind of weird that they allow her to bring in her own cake to eat in their store, but we didn’t mind! We weren’t going to spend a dime at Panera anyways. That is about all for wedding plans, most of the big things are out of the way. We’ll let you know what’s next!

I hope everyone had a nice April Fools Day! My dad and Claudia played a not so nice joke on me! I fell for it 100%! I hope no one else got fooled.
We can check two very important items off the to-do list. We signed a contract with a photographer on Saturday and today we booked a caterer. We are so excited and feel we have accomplished so much! Our photographer is so talented; she has an artistic eye and will photograph our wedding beautifully! Today, we had a tasting with an amazing caterer. Not only did he prepare a delicious meal for us but he made us feel as if we had our own personal chef! His food isn’t what I’d consider a normal catered meal…. SO much better!! AND he gave us a great deal!

We also randomly stopped by a bakery and had a cake tasting. This is probably one of the things I was looking forward to most but I ended up being very disappointed. The cake was very blah. But oh well… on to the next cake tasting! Have I mentioned that I love wedding planning?! J
We feel like everything is coming together, FINALLY! We have a few more important vendors to book but then it’s time for the fun stuff… the honeymoon!! I hope everyone is doing well! Don’t forget to sign the guestbook!

Love,Wendy

March 24th, 2008

It has been a little while since we have updated the website, though much has gone on since our last update. As some of you may know, my Granddad past away last Wednesday, March 19th. We were very close and I loved him dearly. He will truly be missed by everyone, but I know that he is in a much better place now. Up in Heaven, the Gator games play all day long and are commercial free! I am sure he is enjoying them. Love you Granddad!
In wedding news, we have decided to change our location for the wedding ceremony. We will be having it at Leu Gardens in Winter Park. We visited the Gardens and knew immediately that this is where we wanted to get married! This was the place we had fell in love with prior to our infatuation with the Lake Mary Events Center. It is simply beautiful and we are so glad to have at least one thing go our way. Currently the search is on for a good photographer and caterer. We have had one tasting so far and it was awesome! The best meal we have had in a while and it was 100% free!!
